Make a day excursion to the fascinating Gishen Mariam church. The views are unique, with the church situated in a valley with the shape of a cross. Legend says a piece of the True Cross is deposited here. The True Cross is the name for physical remnants which, by a Christian tradition are believed to be from the cross upon which Jesus was crucified. According to post-Nicene historians such as Socrates Scholastic, the Empress Helena, Mother of Constantine, the first Christian Emperor of Rome, traveled to the Holy Land in 326-28, founding churches and establishing relief agencies for the poor. Historians Gelasius of Caesarea and Rufinus claimed that she discovered the hiding place of three crosses that were believed to be used at the crucifixion of Jesus and of two thieves, St.Dismas and Gestasexcutedith him and that a miracle revealed which of the three was the True Cross. Day 9
This day after breakfast visit to the city classified as a World Heritage site. Gondar was the capital of the kingdom of Abyssinia under the reign of Emperor Fasil (Fasiledes) who built castles, churches and medieval style bathrooms in the 17th c. For 200 years it was the imperial residence and met both the relative greatness of the early emperors as the decline of their past. In the mid-nineteenth century the emperor Teodoros burned the city in retaliation for its people could not forgive that did not have royal blood. You will never again be the capital. After breakfast departure early to join the Simien National Park, one of the most spectacular mountain massifs of Africa, beautiful walk between Sankaber (3250 m) and the great waterfall of Jinbar. The path progresses along the immense escarpment, first in a slight climb before starting a descent down to the waterfall. Along the way, a magnificent view of the valley below and the surrounding peaks. Take a scenic drive to Axum, capital of the ancient Axumite Empire, today modest town yet with great history and memory. On the road you would enjoy one of the most beautiful scenes in the country. Morning after breakfast start visiting the sites of Axum, including the famous obelisks (one that was recently erected after being returned from Italy) and the archeological museum, the Queen of Sheba’s Bath (which supplies water to Axum year-round), Ezana’senscription, King Kaleb’s tomb, King Bazen’s tomb, and the Queen of Sheba’s Palace. You can also visit the St. Mary of Zion church, where the Ark of the Covenant is kept. Men only are allowed to enter the old church. Unfortunately, no one (except one specially chosen guardian monk) is allowed to enter the chapel where the Ark is kept. After visit continue to Wukro. Overnight hotel
Day 13
Morning drive through the historical town of Adwa, to the small town of Yeha to visit the 5th century B.C imposing ruins of Yeha’s temple. It was a large pre-Christian temple consisting of a single oblong chamber. The temple is believed to be the oldest standing building in the country. You will also visit the 6th century A.D church of Aba Afse –the church, sharing the same compound with the temple, is rectangular in shape. Morning visit the Netch Sar National park, sanctuary of endemic Swaynes Hartbeest, numerous zebras, and wonderful views over Chamo & Abaya lakes. Then proceed to Langano, to reach late afternoon to relax with a very nice sunset at the Wenney eco-lodge, secluded in a natural paradise at shore of lake Langano and near to Munessa forest. Possibility of trekking, bird-watching, horse-riding, boat excursion, cycling, and more.
Langano – Addis Ababa

Drive to Kombolcha. Being Sunday admire on route the very colorful Afar and Oromo people market at Senbete village. Lunch on the way; dinner and ON hotel.
Day 3
Drive to admire the very colorful Monday’s Afar and Oromo people market at Bati village. Is the most colorful market of northern Ethiopia and is amazing to see all these camel caravans at ones; and the interaction among the residents and Afar people. Proceed then to Semera, where we take the permits for the Danakil. Drive further a few hours to reach lake Afrera. Proceed then to the hot springs. Lunch on the way; dinner & ON camping (if too windy or full at the hot springs, camp at a hotel in town or use one of the local open air hotels)
Day 4
Proceed admiring some Afar people villages, camels, the Afar people way of life and more. Cross also very nice different views, including rocky mountains as dunes, green areas and more. Reach for the afternoon Dodom, at the bottom of the active ErTale volcano. Here we organize the camels for the materials and trek from around 1700 hrs till around 2100 hrs to ErTale volcano. Then enjoy amazing views, admiring the volcano at its splendor, and the lava at the volcano rim: is spectacular! Lunch on the way; dinner & ON in local huts on the volcano rim.
Day 5
. Early morning have a last glance of the volcano and then walk back to Dodom. Proceed your drive then to an Afar people village (Emegubi village) for some very interesting experiences, admiring their culture and way of life, how they extract the local wine from the palm trees and more. Reach Ahmedale late afternoon. Lunch on the way; dinner and ON camping at AhmedAle.

Visit the palace of Dej Asmach Jemal, built during Emperor Menelik reign. Reach Janga where you can admire the Blue Nile. Drive to Fametsere, where under a volcanic mountain (which they call the gold mountain and have many traditional believes) the Berta people extract gold. Lunch on the way; dinner & ON camping or local hotel at Asosa

Drive to Bambasi & Ye’amsera villages of the Mao and Komo people. The Mao & Komo are semi-nomadic people with scarification all over their body & different traditions. The Mao men have scarification in the face & chest, while female on the belly. The Komo on the front & face, while female on the belly. Proceed to the Ganzo people village. The Ganzo are the 81st tribe, just registered few years ago. Are totally 150 members. Have scarification over their body, mainly the men in the face & chest; while female in the belly, arms & back. They hunt (warthog, alligators, monkeys, etc) and in the evening they dine and dance in the village On our return to Asosa visit also a mosque, built in 1952, where in July (Arabian calendar on Mirage 27) there is a famous pilgrimage. Morning drive to Chencha, for the Dorze people, with their unique houses and traditions. Visit the false banana cultivations, from which they extract their traditional bread (the Kotcho), the weaving works and more. Afternoon make a boat excursion on Chamo lake for crocodiles, hippos, birds and a fantastic sunset. Meals & ON Swaynes hotel.
Day 4
Leave your hotel around 07:00 am & drive to Jinka. See on the way the Konso, Derase, Tsemay, Ari and Benna people. Make a stop for the visit of a Konso people village, which are famous for the terracing agriculture, and have particular traditions. Lunch on the way; dinner & ON in a hotel in Jinka (choices are Tebekew or Resort)
Day 5
Drive to the Mago National park, admiring different mammals and birds. Proceed to visit the Mursi people and their villages. Here for beauty women use to put round plates into their lips. Afternoon drive to Jinka and visit the museum. Lunch on the way; dinner & ON in hotel in Jinka
Day 6
THU. Drive to Turmi. On the way admire Thursday’s KeyAfer village market of the Tsemay & Erbore people. Proceed to visit the Hamer people and villages. Lunch on the way; dinner & ON Turmi Evangadi lodge
Day 7
. Leave your hotel around 0730 am & drive to the Nyangatom people crossing the Omo river with small boats at Kangate. Walk to the villages. Then back to Kangate, meet the vehicles and drive about 1 hr to visit the Karo people, for their very interesting decoration and scarification all over their body. From Kortcho village you’ll enjoy also a spectacular view over the Omo river. SAT. Drive to Dimeka village, to admire the colorful Hamer, Karo and Dassanech people market at Dimeka village. Ones the market is done, have a full day for the Hamer people. Drive to Omorate, at bank of Omo river, to visit the Dassanech people and their villages. Here also very nice decoration, ornaments and scarification make these one of the other very interesting visit of the omo valley. Afternoon back to Turmi. Lunch on the way; dinner & ON Turmi Evangadi lodge
Day 10
Drive to the Erbore people and visit their villages and interesting culture. Then proceed to the Weyto river valley. Proceed to reach Arbaminch. Lunch on the way; dinner hotel

Drive to the Rift Valley lake of Langano, visiting the Wolayta and Sidamo people. Late afternoon relax at Langano, with possibility walking in the nearby Munessa forest, bird-watching (this is inhabitant of 400 species of birds), spot mammals and monkeys as the culubus monkey, have the possibility to explore the area by horse-riding, and can have a relaxing swimming in the only bilharzias free lake. Day 1
Addis Ababa – Awash Arrival in Addis Collect Visa for Somaliland &drive to Awash Upon arrival you will be welcomed by Green Land Tour’s staff. After receiving your Visa to Somaliland you will start your drive to Awash. Awash is located in the central rift valley of Ethiopia. Named after one of the biggest river in the country this area is settled by the pastoral people of Kereyu and Afar. It also inhabits the first National Park of Ethiopia called Awash National Park; an afternoon game drive will reward you with spotting some of the wild mammals and avifauna of the country. The river passing through the park also makes a dramatic fall which is accessible to the spot where you can feel the mist of the water.
Day 2
Awash – Dire Dawa A self administrative town of Dire Dawa is founded following the construction of the trail ways which extends from Addis Ababa to Djibouti. This town as a result was once on top of trade and goods transporting business. Though that time passed, this town is still enjoyable for the harmonious style of living of Nations and Nationalities of the country. Few minutes before you reach Dire Dawa you will stop to visit Loga Oda an ancient archeological site admired for its old cave paintings which depicts the cultural heritage of the people who lived 7000 years before.
Day 3
Dire Dawa – Harar A morning drive to The Walled Town of Harar will take you through some colorful towns like Alamaya and Aweday. The town of Aweday is a spot where the best quality of ‘Chat’ a stimulating plant is produced and centralized for local and international markets. An afternoon visit of Harar will include a museum, cultural houses, the house of Arthur Ramous a one time famous French poet and the show of the hyena man.
Day 4
Harar – Togochale To escape the temperature which normally raises at this area an early morning start is advisable. You will drive admiring some of the amazing land escapes of Dakota hill at Babille and later the flatter stretches of the law land area.Togochale is where Ethiopian Emigration office is found so you will be expected to clarify your Visa to the Somali land. Then lately to Harghessa.
Day 5
Harghessa – Burao Minutes drive out of Hargeisa will take you to Laas Gaal caves. Famous for their rock art, the caves are located in a rural area on the outskirts of Hargeisa, and contain some of the earliest known cave paintings in the Horn of Africa and the African continent in general. Laas Gaal’s rock art is estimated to date back to somewhere between9000-8000 and 3000BCE.The rest of the day you will drive enjoying the scarcely populated part of the Somali land with camels grazing.
Day 6
Burao – Barbera This day you will drive North West of Burao to reach Berbera. What you will experience will be the nomadic life of the Somali people with their camels and goats grazing the desert shereb.

Exploring Berbera for a day As to The British explorer Richard Burton Berberah is the true key of the Red Sea, the centre of East African traffic, and the only safe place for shipping upon the western Eritrean shore. Backed by lands capable of cultivation, and by hills covered with pine and other valuable trees, and enjoying a comparatively temperate climate Berbera is a seaport, with the only sheltered harbor on the south side of the Gulf of Aden.
Day 8
: Berbera – Hargessa Hargessa is the capital of the Somaliland with a population of approximately 1.3 million. It was the colonial capital of British Somaliland from 1941 to 1960 when it gained independence as the State of Somaliland and united with Italian Somaliland. Now this town is seen with the bad rewards of the unsettled situation in which the country stayed in.
Day 9
Hargessa – Jijiga Back to Jijiga through Togochalle. Jijiga is a place where you can compare and contrast the Ethiopian Somalia’s and Somaliland’s in respect to culture.
Day 10
Back to Addis Fly back to Addis. Remaining visits. Evening departure.

Founded in 1886 by Menelik II, Addis Ababa is located 2,500m above sea level in the Entoto mountain chain, where it enjoys an excellent year-round climate, with an average temperature of 25°C. It is a vibrant, developing city that is a pleasure to explore on foot, with wide avenues of jacaranda trees, interesting museums and one of the largest open-air markets in Africa.
Depending on the time of your arrival, it may be possible to fit in an afternoon guided tour of the city, taking in the Holy Trinity Cathedral, the National Museum, and the market. Overnight Swiss Inn Nexus hotel

Fly To Gondar Visit The Castles And Palaces Gondar city tour Early Morning fly Gondar ‐ Gondar was the first capital city of the Ethiopian empire, which began in 1632 with the reign of King Fasilledes. Gondar visit includes the palaces, residences and open air baths of King Fasilledes; (World Heritage Site by UNESCO), the monasteries of Qusquom, the church of Debre Berhan Sellassie (Light of the Trinity) with its 16th century paintings and frescoes, which is located at the summit of a hill and surrounded by fortified walls. Day 3
Drive To The Semien Mountains National Park Via Debark To Reach To Sankaber 3230m Gondar – Sankaber Drive to the Semien Mountains National Park via Debark the gateway to the park and continue driving to reach to Sankaber 3230masl through a beautiful scenery and Ahmara people and villages, the base for hiking in the Simien Mountains. The range lies north of Gondar and many of the peaks rise above 4,000m with the highest being Mount Ras Dashen at 4,543m. The mountains are criss-crossed with tracks made by the local people travelling from village to village or moving their animals to fresh pastures. The combination of these tracks and the spectacular scenery make for excellent walking. We start our trek with a walk to our first camp Sankaber. The campsite is a great spot for sunset, there is a toilet block. Today’s five-and-a-half kilometre walk is expected to take around two-and-a-half hours with 100 metres of ascent and 30 metres of descent. The Semien Mountains National Park is a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and we will visit its exceptional natural beauty which includes superb scenery, endemic fauna and flora. Among other endemics it is here that the Gelada Baboon (bleeding heart Baboon) is found. Overnight Camping
Day 4
Trek Sankaber Geech We trek today to Geech camp via Sankaber, with the possibility of seeing baboons and red-hot poker plants en route. The gelada baboon is endemic to Ethiopia and has adapted to living on the nearly vertical cliff faces. We may also see the Jinbar river waterfalls today that plummet into Geech Abyss. The Abyss is a vast canyon cut into the main wall of the escarpment. Overnight Camping
Day 5
HIke To The Viewpoint Of Imet Gogo 3926m Imet Gogo 3926m Today hike to the viewpoint of Imet Gogo (3,926m). From the viewpoint there are spectacular views of the lowlands and across the Simien range with rock spires and mesas prominent . Keep a close look out for the elusive simien fox. It’s misnamed as it is not really a fox but a member of the dog family restricted to Ethiopia. Today’s optional 10 kilometre circular walk is expected to take around four hours. Overnight Camping
Day 6
Trek To Chenek Camp Via Inatye 4,070m Trek to Chenek camp on a good trail via Inatye (4,070m) and along the escarpment. This exciting walk traverses the Jinbar river and provides us with fantastic views. You may like to take the opportunity to freshen-up in the nearby stream south of camp. The campsite set among Giant Lobelia is basic with toilets and cold water showers avaialble. Today’s 13 kilometre walk is expected to take around eight hours with 810 metres of ascent and 770 metres of descent. Overnight Camping
Day 7
Today we trek to Ambikwa and plan to stop at a spectacular viewpoint (4,200m) north of Bwahit where, on clear days, we can see across the Mesheha river to Ras Dashen peak. We then descend steeply and pass through the village of Chiro Leba to follow a stream bed until we reach the large Mesheha River. We’ll cross the river and follow a path up the east side of the valley to Ambikwa village, (3,200m) where our r camp sits in a little meadow next to a small church, it is basic with a stream nearby for washing in. Today’s 17 kilometre walk is expected to take around 10 to 12 hours with 1,000 metres of ascent and 1,400 metres of descent. Overnight Camping
Day 8
Ambikwa – Ras Dashen Starting before sunrise we follow the main valley up and climb steeply via Mizma village houses to reach a ridge crest and open grassy slopes (3,700m) on our invigorating ascent of Ethiopia’s highest mountain. Next we traverse around ridges and climb more steeply to a broad col at 4250m. Keep an eye open for giant lobelia, by far the most spectacular plant of this region with flower stalks up to 8m high. Eventually we enter a huge semicircular basin of rocky peaks and buttresses – Ras Dashen. The last section involves some steep scrambling and climbing to a fine viewpoint at 4,543m. We’ll spend the rest of the day hiking back to our camp. Today’s 21 kilometre walk is expected to take around 10 to 12 hours with 1,300 metres of ascent and descent. Overnight Camping
Day 9
Today we recross the Mesheha River as we make our way to Arkwasiye and our campsite there (3,700m). Today trek has a different feel to it as we walk through the fields and meet local farmers cultivating their land. We will have the opportunity to visit the local school and meet the children. Arkwasiye is a basic remote campsite with fantastic views but no toilet facilities.Today’s 15 kilometre walk is expected to take around six hours. Overnight Camping
Day 10
This morning we walk from Arkwasiye to the roadhead where our vehicle will be waiting. From there drive to Gondar passing by Chenek (3,620 m). We have an early start this morning for our trek . Today’s four kilometre walk is expected to take around two hours. Overnight Goha hotel
Day 11
In The Morning Transfer To Airport To Fly To Addis Addis Ababa-Departure On arrival in Addis, check into your hotel. This will either be on day room basis or overnight depending on your international flight times.This evening, we will arrange for a farewell dinner in a restaurant with Ethiopian music and dance, or in a good city centre restaurant.
