Overview

Six days connect Addis Ababa with a Gambella-focused programme of wetlands, plains and river-country observation.

Day-by-day itinerary

A proposed sequence for discussion. Daily access, services and travel arrangements need confirmation.

Day 1

Capital and museum context

Begin in Addis Ababa with museum and religious-landmark interests before the western journey. Choose the city visits around arrival and the time available.

Day 2

Into Gambella

A proposed charter stage reaches Gambella, followed by a camp near the Baro River corridor. Confirm the aircraft, permissions and exact overnight location before arranging this remote section.

Day 3

Wetland observation

Combine proposed aerial wetland observation with a local walk. Wildlife and migration activity vary, while the flight and field visits require their own confirmed arrangements.

Gambella National Park

Day 4

Northwestern plains

The route turns to the park's northwestern plains and includes Nuer cattle-camp interests. Any community visit requires invitation and respectful permission rather than being treated as a scheduled spectacle.

Day 5

Southwestern habitats

Return towards the main camp and explore the drier southwestern area. Arrange any flight, wildlife outing and later walk in line with current permits and field conditions.

Day 6

Gambella town to Addis Ababa

Leave the park through Gambella town and return to Addis Ababa. Confirm the flight and any onward connections, allowing enough time for transfers.
