Overview

This outline starts and finishes in Addis Ababa over 12 days. Overnight locations, daily travel times and any walking demands are not yet confirmed; the day-by-day itinerary below shows the proposed sequence.

Day-by-day itinerary

A proposed sequence for discussion. Daily access, services and travel arrangements need confirmation.

Day 1

Capital arrival

Start in Addis Ababa with an introductory city programme. The actual museum, neighbourhood or market choices should fit arrival and rest before the nature-focused stages begin.

Day 2

Into the Simiens

Reach the mountains through Gondar and spend the afternoon in the Simien landscape. Confirm the accommodation and time available for an introductory outing.

Day 3

Day 5

Awash via Addis Ababa

The route changes regions through Addis Ababa before continuing to Awash. Its feasibility depends on actual connections and access, not simply the order of stops on a schematic.

Day 6

Awash day

Remain in Awash for a separate park day. Select the visits with current park advice and allow wildlife observation to follow the conditions on the day.

Day 7

Ziway to Langano

Leave Awash for the Rift Valley lakes, visiting Ziway before Langano. Any boat outing needs its own confirmed local arrangement.

Day 8

Abijatta–Shalla interests

A full lake-country day reaches the Abijatta–Shalla area. Observation of the lakes and their habitats is the theme, with conditions and permissions checked before a route is fixed.

Day 9

Towards Hawassa

The journey moves to Hawassa through Senkele. Sanctuary observation is conditional on current access, and no particular animal or cultural encounter is guaranteed.

Day 10

Hawassa to Bale

Hawassa's fish-market interests come before the drive into Bale through Dinsho. This day introduces the highlands rather than assuming the arrival allows every major park excursion.

Day 11

Harenna and Sanetti

The forest and plateau share the full Bale day. Their contrasting environments give the itinerary its focus; species sightings and exact walking routes remain dependent on field conditions.

Day 12

Return through Robe

Reach Robe before the return to Addis Ababa. Confirm the flight, airport transfers and any onward connections as part of the final travel plan.
