Addis Ababa introduction
Begin with an introduction to Addis Ababa's museums, neighbourhoods or markets. Leave enough time to settle in after arrival and choose a manageable city programme.
Addis Ababa
Thirteen days connect Jinka and Turmi with Arba Minch, Yirgalem, Hawassa and Bale. Cultural visits, lake landscapes and highland walking have separate places in the daily sequence.

Day 1
Begin with an introduction to Addis Ababa's museums, neighbourhoods or markets. Leave enough time to settle in after arrival and choose a manageable city programme.
Addis Ababa
Day 2
The journey turns south to Jinka. Its museum and an Ari community visit introduce the region; any village visit needs local agreement and permission before photographs or personal stories are shared.
Addis Ababa → Jinka
Day 3
Combine the Mago area and a locally agreed Mursi visit with the journey towards Turmi through Key Afar. Any market or ceremony depends on its actual calendar and the wishes of the hosts.
Jinka → Mago National Park → Key Afar → Turmi
Day 4
Explore the Kolcho and Kangatan area from Turmi, with proposed Karo and Nyangatom encounters. Agree the hosting and any river crossing arrangements before setting out.
Turmi → Kolcho → Kangatan → Turmi
Day 5
This day links Omerate and a Dassanech visit with Dimeka before returning to Turmi. Agree community permissions and market timing locally rather than treating the day's cultural life as a fixed attraction.
Turmi → Omerate → Dimeka → Turmi
Day 6
Leave Turmi through Arbore and Konso to reach Arba Minch. Konso's settlement landscape provides a distinct cultural stop, while seasonal conditions may affect the route taken.
Turmi → Arbore → Konso → Arba Minch
Day 7
Lake Chamo and Dorze share this day. The lake outing and discussion of Dorze weaving and buildings offer different perspectives, with wildlife observation and household access subject to conditions and permission.
Arba Minch → Lake Chamo → Dorze → Arba Minch
Day 8
Continue through the Rift Valley with Senkele on the way to Yirgalem. The landscape shifts towards coffee-growing country; seeing a particular animal at the sanctuary remains a possibility rather than a promise.
Arba Minch → Senkele Game Sanctuary → Yirgalem
Day 9
Spend the day around Yirgalem with a focus on coffee cultivation and a proposed Sidama community visit. Agree the hosting and places that residents welcome visitors to explore.
Yirgalem
Day 10
Continue to Hawassa and its fish-market area. A lake outing is optional and should be considered separately in light of current conditions.
Yirgalem → Hawassa
Day 11
Head towards Bale through Dinsho and the Goba area, with Harenna Forest interests on the approach. This day introduces the mountains before a full day exploring the park.
Hawassa → Dinsho → Goba → Harenna Forest
Day 12
A second Bale day links Harenna Forest with the Sanetti Plateau. These contrasting habitats are the focus; the itinerary does not guarantee sightings of Ethiopian wolves or other species.
Goba → Harenna Forest → Sanetti Plateau
Day 13
Leave the Goba and Bale area for Addis Ababa. An air connection is proposed for this final stage; confirm the airport, flight availability and onward arrangements when planning the journey.
Goba → Addis Ababa
